Over the past few weeks, students have expressed outrage over the "new" schedule for The Vern Express, especially after 10pm and on weekend mornings when students had to wait for shuttles running on a "every 30 minutes" schedule.
Students, including myself, expressed outrage on social media and to the administration. It even ended up as a main tenet of my platform.
Word came earlier this week that members of the administration and those in charge of The Vern Express were talking about modifying the route schedule to make it more convenient to students.
In a tweet to students this evening, a new schedule was released that eliminated the 30-minute schedules and replaced them with 15-minute scheduling. Because of student advocacy and responsiveness by the administration, if The Vern Express is not running on a peak hour, 5 minute schedule (on weekdays from 7am-6pm), it will be running every 15 minutes between campuses.
This is proof that if concerned students have a problem, stand up for themselves and make an effort to make change, it can happen. I am very proud that I can now eliminate this tenet from my platform and I look forward to joining students all over campus to make effective change in the Senate.
